From climate change to the regulation of powerful digital companies, from migration to rising socio-economic inequality, from defense to global trade, EU law is at the forefront of addressing today’s most pressing challenges. Yet, the EU itself faces mounting threats—from the rise of ethno-nationalism and rule of law backsliding to intensifying geopolitical and military tensions.
This minor equips students, as both citizens and future EU law experts, with the knowledge and skills to shape EU law as a force for positive change in an increasingly turbulent world.
The minor in EU Law and Politics provides students the knowledge, language, and critical vision to understand how EU law works, develops, and is shaped by values, interest groups, states, and geopolitical forces. It also explores the hidden biases and injustices within the law.
Through an interdisciplinary approach, students engage with key areas of EU law, and debates within them, including the internal market, criminal and competition law, external relations law, consumer protection, anti-discrimination law, and environmental regulation. The minor also strengthens legal analysis, communication in English, and persuasiveness, culminating in a moot court exercise for more practical EU law experience.
