On Friday 13 April 2018 the Centre for the Study of European Contract Law organises together with the Journal of European Consumer and Market Law a conference on Consumer Law in the Data Economy.

Data has been described as the new oil of society, and its relevance to the consumer market is evident. Many companies make use of consumer data to tailor their production to consumer preferences, and to target advertising at relevant groups of consumers. This conference aims to provide an overview and critical analysis of the legal questions concerning emerging data-driven technologies in the consumer market. All presented papers will be published in the special issue (4/2018) of the Journal of European Consumer and Market Law (EuCML), which is a peer-reviewed journal specializing in consumer law, competition law and other fields of law relevant to the regulation of the European consumer market.
