His PhD research is entitled ‘Consumer bias in sustainable consumption: debiasing consumers towards a sustainable future.’ In his research Yannick will research consumer behaviour and consuming as a behaviour, to understand the influence of law on consumption patterns. He will then apply these behavioural insights to law in the European Union to move consumers towards a more sustainable pattern of consumption. Looking at these insights, he aims to set up a behaviourally informed framework of legal interventions to promote sustainable consumption in the European Union.

Yannick studied Law and Philosophy at the University of Groningen, obtaining his bachelor of law (2017) and his bachelor of philosophy (2018). He studied the research master of law in Groningen, focusing on constitutional law, legislation and interdisciplinary research. He wrote his thesis on the legal conceptualisation of nudge theory. During his research master he worked as a student assistant at the University of Groningen.
