    Joasia is currently an Associate Professor and Director of the Center for European Legal Studies at the Law School of the University of Exeter, United Kingdom. She is also a CSECL Fellow and a Visiting Associate Professor at Amsterdam Law School. She has over 10 years of experience with research in the area of European consumer law and its implementation in Poland, the Netherlands, United Kingdom and Germany. In her research she often includes insights from consumer behaviour science. Her PhD research, conducted at the CSECL, examined influence and scope of duties to warn in the area of consumer construction law.

    Since 2016 she is leading an international, interdisciplinary research project between CSECL, SRH Hochschule Berlin and the University of Exeter assessing requirements for compliance with the principle of transparency in online consumer contracts: The ABC of Online Disclosure Duties: Towards a More Uniform Assessment of the Transparency of Consumer Information in Europe (Open Research Area funding awarded by NWO and DFG until May 2020).

    At CSECL, Joasia is currently supervising two PhD students – Mia Junuzović (jointly with prof. Marco Loos within the above-described ORA research project) and Anna van Duin (as a second supervisor within the project of prof. Chantal Mak).

    Moreover, she often collaborates with prof. Marco Loos on various consumer research projects. Most recently, they have obtained a third party funding from the Raad voor Rechtsbijstand (Dutch Council for Legal Aid) to conduct an audit of consumer law cases (September 2019-March 2020).

    She also regularly organises CSECL research outreach events, e.g. international and interdisciplinary conference ‘The Transparent Trap: Disclosing Information to Consumers’ (July 2019); international conference ‘Consumer Law in the Data Economy’ (April 2018). Furthermore, she is the founder and main contributor of the blog ‘Recent developments in European Consumer Law’ (http://recent-ecl.blogspot.com/ ), which is currently co-authored by two other CSECL members.
