Portret of Emilio Bufano

Emilio Bufano (born 1991) graduated in Law at the University of Pisa (2015) and obtained a Diploma from the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies (Honors College) in Pisa (2016), where he studied with a full scholarship. In November 2015 Emilio started his PhD in Private Law at the University of Pisa. Until April 2017 he also worked as legal advisor at the Cabinet of the Italian Minister of Economy and Finances in Rome, and was a trainee lawyer at the Italian State Attorney's Offices in Rome until June 2017.

Emilio's academic studies focus on market regulation through Contract Law, with particular reference to asymmetric contracts in EU Private Law. As visiting fellow at CSECL (February - May 2018), his work is on the policy implications behind the extension of the UCTD fairness test to clauses of economic significance. His research is about how to gather a European toolbox in order to strike unfair terms and fix contracts without altering their function.
